Celebrating Home-Based Child Care Leaders and Their Commitment to Advocacy

This summer, MDC celebrated an important milestone with the graduation of the Home-Based Child Care Community of Practice cohort, made up of eight networks.

The June 24 celebration recognized the accomplishments of home-based child care providers who participated in the Community of Practice and their commitment to strengthening the care they provide to children and families in their communities.

Throughout their time together, participants deepened their understanding of home-based child care policy priorities and strengthened their ability to advocate for policies that support providers, children, and families. The graduation also celebrated participants’ efforts to put that learning into action by advocating for local policy change in their respective counties.

Home-based child care providers play an important role in families’ and communities’ lives. Creating opportunities for providers to learn together, build relationships, and strengthen their collective voice helps ensure their experiences and perspectives are part of the policies and decisions that affect their work.
