Everett Campbell

Everett Campbell serves as Program Coordinator for MDC’s Rural Prosperity and Investment team, joining the team in October 2023. With a passion for enhancing community membership and contributing to progressive social action related to racial and gender equity, they support rural community development and capacity-building initiatives across the American South through research and facilitation. 

Everett was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved many times throughout their youth, even spending a few years abroad in Australia. Everett then settled in the city of Reno to receive their Social Work degree from the University of Nevada, where they began their involvement in policy work for rural Nevadan communities, as well as community outreach related to housing reform and addiction recovery resources. These experiences sparked their passion for rural prosperity and the significance of implementing programs that are community and place centered. Prior to MDC, Everett worked as a volunteer coordinator for a nonprofit located in a Lake Tahoe State Park and for a women’s and families shelter located in Sparks, NV.

Having moved back to North Carolina at the end of 2022, Everett is happily located in Durham, NC where they enjoy spending time outdoors, listening to live music, and relaxing with their two cats.
