Ren Bullock

Ren Bullock (they/he) is the Program Administrator for Educational Equity and a nonbinary Black and Vietnamese cultural organizer, author, speaker, and education professional based in North Carolina.

Community uplifting work has been Ren’s consistent joy since 2012, beginning with Chapel Hill-based literacy non-profit Sacrificial Poets and continuing on to several arts and education non-profits such as Youth Speaks in San Francisco, Words Beats & Life in Washington, DC, and Blackspace in Durham, NC. As an educator, they have toured the country collaborating with organizations, universities, and schools for various teaching residencies, workshops, and events.

Prior to joining MDC, they served as Middle School Equity Coordinator, SEL Co-Lead Advisor, AAPI Affinity Group Advisor, and a 6th-grade English and World Cultures teacher in Cary, NC.

As an author and speaker, Ren’s work has been featured by AFROPUNK.com, Button Poetry, The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, The Human Rights Campaign, and more. They are a Kundiman, Watering Hole, Pink Door, and Obsidian Foundation fellow, She Who Has No Masters inaugural mentee, as well as a Susan Laughter Meyers and Furious Flower Poetry Prize finalist.
