Meet MDC’s New President & CEO: Lakeisha Hood Moïse

We proudly welcome Lakeisha Hood Moïse as MDC’s new President and CEO!

A child of the South with a lifelong commitment to equity and justice, Lakeisha brings over 15 years of cross-sector experience in government, nonprofit, and education leadership. From overseeing $3 billion in rural development investments as State Director at USDA, to managing federal nutrition programs serving millions of families, Lakeisha has built her career around impact and sustainable systems change.

As MDC’s first female President and CEO, she enters this role at a time of great opportunity for the organization and the region we serve. Lakeisha will lead MDC into a new era of collaboration and innovation as we share the 2025 State of the South report and deepen our work in communities across the South.
